Restaurant One Noodle - Dim Sum & La Mein (Ramen) SS2
March 3, 2008 – 5:09 pm - 1,024 viewsThis is one place that has had very mixed reviews, I plan to try everywhere in SS2 though so when we were there a while back we tried to give One Noodle a go. Seen as though we are on a xiao long bao run anyway and they have La Mian (AKA Ramen) too.
It’s located in the same row as Prince Cafe (will try that one soon) and KFC. It’s under the same group as KTZ.

The ambiance is quite normal, dark wood, red walls with calligraphy etc.

They have a decent range of drinks with the usual suspects - this is the Raspberry Ribena (RM4.80), which was a little too sweet.

They have a wide range of Noodles (their speciality of course), some side dishes and a fairly good selection of Dim Sum.
The Wu Kok or Deep Fried Yam Puff (RM4.80) was very nice, it is a favourite of mine…it was probably the best dish of the day.

The Xiao Long Bao (RM6) was rather disappointing, it broke very easily, the skin was a bit thick and the soup/meat wasn’t very juicy or tasty.

The Seafood Tom Yam La Mien (RM14.80) wasn’t really great either, there was a fair amount of seafood but the Tom Yam had no real kick to it. Much better at Segambut Seafood Noodles - especially as it’s around the same price.

The Hot and Sour La Mien (RM7.80) was much better - actually worth going back for and much more reasonably priced.

Overall I don’t think we will be going back, there are many better places to eat in SS2 - I think the Schezuan style noodles at KTZ beat this hot and sour. For the style of the place and the prices the service is fairly bad too. Even when it’s quiet you can find yourself waiting for quite some time.
It has a few dishes that are not bad - but not worth traveling to eat. If you are nearby you can check it out.
We give it a not-so-great We Ate This 4/10.

There’s one in Waterfront, Desa Park City. Don’t know why so crowded. I tried the noodle once, and never visit again.

My last visit was pretty good though. I believe their quality not consistent cos the Hot & Sour La Mien I had was terribly spicy. I ended up with a soar lips, an upset stomach and loss of voice the next day.

Simon Seow: Yah I’m not sure why it gets busy either, definitely not worth visiting again.
Precious Pea: Hmm I guess they really are inconsistent - that’s a bad sign
