Seng Kee Siew Yoke Meen and Claypot Lou Shu Fan (Mouse or Rat Tail Noodles) at Jalan Sultan, Petaling Street - KL

February 27, 2008 – 3:39 pm - 1,253 views

This is a famous haunt for post clubbing kaki, it’s in a pretty decent location in KL - got parking (with jaga kereta of course) and lovely greasy food to settle the beer, it’s actually in Jalan Sultan, which is parallel to Petaling Street where the night market is. Most people will say Petaling Street though as it’s the nearest land-mark.

You can always see the grey haired uncle there with a very ‘action’ face.

We always go there for the Siu Yuk Min (Siew Yoke Meen) - it’s superb, dark greasy and has oodles of meat. The Roast Pork (Siu Yuk) is fried with plenty of garlic and mixed with the noodles. No one can imitate Seng Kee on this! It’s the champion.

They use Sang Meen (The same type generally using in Wantan Mee).

Another must try is the Sang Cheung (I’m really not sure if it’s fallopian tubes or intestine - I’m pretty sure it comes from pigs though!) It’s also fried with plenty of garlic and some chili padi - excellent!

And of course the famous Lou Shu Fan! Very good, some people seem to prefer Murni (*ptooi*) but I think this one is good - with the raw egg.

Remember to stir well before eating.

The Hokkien Mee is not bad, but that’s not what you go there for.

As for prices I’m not really sure, but it seems to work out about RM10 per person if you have a reasonable sized group.

We’d rate it a satisfying We Ate This 7/10. It’s not that clean or comfortable, but it is convenient and the food is pretty good.

To get there just take a left immediately after Nando’s when you are heading towards Petaling Street (Jalan Sultan) - just keep heading straight and Seng Kee will be near the end on your right.

Location on Wikimapia.

  5. Haven’t had the claypot lou shu fan in Murni for a long time already. Don’t know if it’s still same or has deteoriated in quality. But this one that you’ve featured certainly looks really really GOOD.

  10. if i’m not mistakened, sang cheung is the smaller intestines (damn my biology).

anyway, i’ll visit sang kee when i have the time to.

anyway, since you are in the area. directly opposite petaling street (the exit where if you look right you can see pudu terminal), there is a very famous hawker stall thats famous for its hokkien mee. it’s been around for around 30 yrs now, located in a corner dirty alley between 2 lots.

another decent place to get the claypot lou shu fan is in TTDI. find al radji bank, its on your right, take a left at the traffic lights, its along the end of the shops there. MAMA’s KITCHEN if not mistakened. the shop with the most ppl at dinner hours.

    thatjames: Glad you agree.

    slau: Ah ok - thanks.

twosuperheroes: Never fancied the stuff at Murni.

slacker: Yah I think it’s the sister restaurant to this one - have to try it out!

moons: Don’t worry, will arrange it sometime :) When I’m over that side of town.

Precious Pea: Yup I wanna try it out!

max: Never had that there, will remember next time.

kevin: Yah I had the Hokkien Mee there many years ago, quite famous. The Claypot Chicken Rice there is good too! Jalan Sultan also. I’ll go try this Mama’s Kitchen.

Bernsy: Heheh, no la - quite fine :) Fairly resilient.

  13. ho! never knew they had claypot chicken rice there!

one day you should make a road trip all the way to KAMPAR town just to take claypot chicken rice. nothing beats theirs. they broke a raw egg in the claypot like the loh shi fun style.

  14. kevin: Yah the Claypot Chicken Rice is same road as Seng Kee - earlier in the evening. If I remember it’s almost right outside the 7-11 next to a Steamboat place.
