Face to Face Noodles House – Chili & Curry Pan Mee – Damansara Perdana

January 29, 2008 – 8:36 pm - 3,871 views

This is a small outlet which specializes in noodles, more specifically Pan Mee or ‘Board Noodles’ as they are flat and wide. They are often torn and and served with soup, anchovies, spinach and chili.

They also sell Sarawak noodles, but I don’t go there for that. They are a Pan Mee specialist after all! The front of the shop has a distinctive sign board, it’s facing the main road into Damansara Perdana from the LDP.

They have a small variety of drinks like lemon ribena and a few others.

This is the House Specialty Hot & Spicy Pan Mee, you can get it dry or with soup depending on your taste and can also request thick or thin noodles (thick are the more traditional Pan Mee you would be used to).

It’s served with some minced meat, a poached egg, spring onions and anchovies. There is a variety of chili’s on the table for the different kinds of noodle, you can always ask if you aren’t sure which to use. An excellent mix of tastes and textures.

This is the curry Pan Mee, which I have to say wasn’t that great – the curry could definitely do with more kick – it was a bit bland.

Apparently the dumplings are good too, but I haven’t tried them yet. The portions are quite small, so it’s good for a light meal or sharing.

The ambiance is pretty simple, quite a hong kong feel – clean and white. This meal for two cost a very reasonable RM14.50.

Go and eat the Chef’s special Pan Mee – possible wise to avoid the other stuff, we give it a We Ate This 6/10.

We Ate This 7/10

Anyone wanna take me to the famous Kin Kin? Haha.

  3. Man, I heard about this place but haven’t tried it out yet. Also found out that somewhere in Kota Damansara there is a chilli pan mee, not curry but chilli which is also something interesting to try out.

  9. Sounds familiar, is this place relocated from somewhere? Yumz…looks good! There is a place in Taman Sri Sentosa that serves really really good pan mee.

  10. Bee Nee: Curry anything mee is good hehe.

Mark: Yeah heard of that place, will have to find out where it is.

Simon Seow: I don’t think it’s Kin Kin – but it’s chili pan mee.

    ImperfectlyMe: No it’s not.

    Robb: No probs.

Bernsy: Kin Kin of course, by a margin..but then it’s in KL and you have to wait 30 mins for your noodles..

Esther: Yah I want to try Superkitchen too.

Precious Pea: Not sure but apparently they have another branch in uptown.

  13. Was looking for places to eat nice pan mee and came upon this site. Heard much about kin kin but never tried. Usually eat at this shop called Jojo Little Kitchen in Kuchai Lama near my office. Always very packed during lunch and they serve very good pan mee in different soups. Their curry mee is also sedap. Their desserts like Tau Foo Fah is also very smooth. Anyone tried and can tell me how it compares to the others?

By Jason on Mar 3, 2008

  14. Jason: I’m not sure, Kuchai Lama/OUG/etc. is the opposite side of town for most of us.

  15. I will probably go try Kin Kin one of these weekends. What is their operating hours?

Oh, by the way I also found a blog on Jojo Little kitchen while surfing for pan mee. Check it out…

  16. This pan mee tries to imitate Kin Kin, but it’s not good. I’d say Kin Kin in KL is the best NOT the service though. The Chilli Pan Mee right opposite Kin Kin (imitation of Kin Kin) is the 2nd best, they recently opened a branch in Kota Damansara. If you can’t take the lousy service of Kin Kin like me, try the 2nd best.

  17. hmm, dunno about Jojo’s chilli Pan Mee. Never tried it but my colleague likes it very much. I always eat the Herbal Chicken Pan mee, Knife cut mee or curry pan mee. These are very sedap and are my favoruite choices. The others I have yet to try.

By Jason on Apr 6, 2008

  18. I’ll probably try the one in Kota Damansara as it’s most convenient for me. I’ll get to Kin Kin in KL one day.

  19. Kin Kin luvers… you must try JoJo Little Kitchen in Kuchai. Definitely better le. No doubt ;) I luv their style of ‘ma lak” pan mee. Much nicer than even the infamous Raja Laut Lat Jiu Pan Mee. Their 3 color tea is a must too especially for people like me who crave for HK lai char and those pasar malam pearl milk teas.. hehehe
