Italiannies - Italian Food Pasta, Pizza and Salads - The Curve

December 16, 2007 – 4:56 pm - 2,815 views

Italiannies has to be one of my favourites places to eat at The Curve - it’s consistent, the portions are big, the ingredients are of good quality and the atmosphere is pretty nice.

It’s not the cheapest place to eat and some find it a little over-priced, I don’t mind the prices too much as long as the quality stays (artichokes in the ceasar salad!).

If you’re not sure where Italianies is - it’s next to Laundry Bar near to Fitness First. If you walk from The Curve towards Cineleisure you will find it on the right.

When you are seated a waiter will bring you some freshly baked and sliced bread and pour some olive oil and balsamic vinegar onto a side plate for you to dip the bread into - delicious!

The condiments..

Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar

They have a pretty wide ranging menu with some delicious appetizers (stuffed mushrooms!), good soup and a variety of pizza, pasta and entrées like steak and chicken. The prices range from about RM15-RM60.

One of my favourite things there is the Calamari Caesar Salad - it’s excellent! Especially as it has artichokes, the sauce is not too heavy and the salad leaves are extremely fresh. Combine that with the crispy and not overly salty calamari and you have a great combination.

The pasta is pretty consistently good so it depends what you feel like having, the portions are pretty large so I recommend ordering to share. This is fettuccini with spicy prawns and green beans.

Spicy Prawn Fettucini

Another favourite is the Chicken Milanese, a tender piece of chicken on a bed of creamy spinach topped with diced tomatoes and capers. It’s rather rich but very delicious.

Their tiramisu and cheesecake are also excellent, but I don’t usually have room to fit them in. I do just go there for dessert sometimes though, huge portions again.

We’d give Italiannies a very consistent We Ate This 8/10 - they could improve in some areas but all in all generally good.

  4. The Calamari Caesar Salad looks really good. Great idea to combine fresh veggie with sinful cholesterol laden calamaris. Yumzz..

  12. Italiannies of The Curve is bad. The one over 1-utama have better service.

I was there (The Curve) with my friends. My friend ordered the Beef Lasagna. She waited for so long, until all 3 of us had almost finished our foods. Called the waiter, he checked with the kitchen, admitted that there’s a mixed up of order. But my friend was assured that her order would be ready in 10mins. So, ok. My friend waited another 10mins. Her food came, but it’s CHICKEN and not beef lasagna.

My friend was damn upset. Demanded for the manager on duty. Complained to him. Then we were given free desserts. Angry and pissed, my friend ordered all the available desserts on the menu. Hah!!!

And we couldn’t finished all of it.

  13. nyen: I wouldn’t say it’s bad - I’d say service in Malaysia is generally bad and there are VERY few places I would rate with good service. I’ve been to both 1-U and The Curve and don’t find much difference.

  14. I once went and ordered warm water. They gave me HOT water and I almost burnt my tongue. :-P
Told the manager and he apologised. They came and gave “warm” water but is still rather hot. Hehe.
But usually the service is OK… Food is good.

By MyF on Jan 6, 2008

  15. MyF: Normal for Malaysia, service is the last concern.

  16. I have to agree with “v0ices”. When I was there on Christmas day, the food is so so only and the services is not up to standard… Don’t think I will go again :)

By Cyence on Jan 18, 2008

  17. Cyence: I have found the service dodgy, but never the food. I guess it’s about choosing the right things too, very few places do everything well.

By He on Jan 22, 2008

  18. Emm….this is to bad what i have read here. What’s wrong with the service? i’ve been working there long time ago and i found its orite.

Maybe new steward and other staff.. please give them time to learn from mistake. for sure you guys will lav that place which they called themselves “Italiannies Pasta & Vino”.

Cheer Up!! Italiannies?! Im coming back for the food end of the year maybe for my next bday. Thanks. No HARM..

By formerstaff on Apr 15, 2008

  19. Yeah, they serve in really huge portions. I don’t have room to fit the desert most of the times too.

By TM on May 14, 2008

  20. formerstaff: New staff should be trained properly and should tail someone until they know how to act professionally. Letting inexperienced staff loose with customers is VERY bad.

    TM: Yah great to share.
